Divine Denim: Rihanna takes Tokyo in Dior
All eyes were on bad gal Riri when she stepped out in Tokyo for the Dior FW 2015-16 Repeat show earlier this week. Ever daring when it comes to fashion, the superstar looked stunning in a custom-made fit-and-flare denim dress from the French fashion house. Decked in head-to-toe Dior accessories, of course – a pink and red abstract print Diorama clutch bag, rose-tinted oversized sunglasses and ornate lace-up jaquard ankle boots. Seriously though, can we talk about those shoes?! They are making us weak in the knees. And she didn’t stop there! A slew of Dior rings, earrings and bracelets added to her show-stopping look — she showed off an effortless way to take a denim dress from every-day casual to totally chic.
Her beauty game was also completely on point, topping off the look with fiery red locks, which had been styled into glamorous, old Hollywood-style side-swept curls, and bold red nails.
Whether she’s glamming up or keeping it casual, we can’t get enough of Rihanna’s individual sense of style. While we’re used to seeing her show a lot more skin, the unexpected factor is what we really love about this Dior ensemble.
The Barbados-born singer made history earlier this year when she was unveiled as the new face of Dior, becoming the label’s first-ever black spokeswoman. And based on this look, it’s clear to see why the brand hired the pop princess.
“It feels fantastic,” she told MTV News. “It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any color. I think to be acknowledged by Dior means a lot, as a woman, to feel beautiful—to feel elegant and timeless.”
Our favourite bad gal is in good company now that she joined a line-up of brand ambassadors, including Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis and Marion Cotillard.
Rihanna and Dior prove to be a fierce fashion match made in heaven, and we can’t get enough of it. From this look to the stunning video and campaign for Dior’s Secret Garden series, lensed by Steven Klein, we’re excited to see what comes out next from this collaboration.
