Celebrity Spotlight: January Jones
When we hear the name January Jones we picture a designer dressed, blonde star walking down the red carpet. What may surprise us all is that January was raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and her career started at the local Dairy Queen.
But it did not take long for Miss Jones to move to the big city to pursue her dreams. After she graduated high school, her small town roots were quickly torn as she moved to New York City to model. Soon, she won commercial ad campaigns with Clearasil and Abercrombie & Fitch before gaining enough courage to head over to Hollywood to become an actress.
Upon arriving in Los Angeles, January received small parts in Sorority and Get Real, but gained the most attention from her relationship with Ashton Kutcher, which soon ended in 2001 due to his reported lack of support of her career.
After her relationship relationship with Ashton K, she won small roles in Bandits with Bruce Willis, Taboo, Full Frontal and Anger Management opposite Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler. Miss Jones finally scored big attention in American Wedding and Love Actually in 2003.
After her cinema flop Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Jones fought back with memorable performances in Tommy Lee Jones’ The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada in 2005 and in We Heart Marshall with Matthew Fox and Matthew McConaughey in 2006.
Finally in 2007, January took on her famous character Betty Draper of 1960s drama Mad Men. Jones won critical acclaim as the cold and selfish housewife of Don Draper, winning two Screen Actor Guild Awards and two Golden Globe nominations in 2009 and 2010.
Following, 2011 proved to be a big year for January, who starred in Unknown with Liam Neeson and X-Men: First Class. The same year, after she ended a 2 -year relationship with SNL star Jason Sudeikis, January revealed she was expecting. On September 3rd she gave birth to now 1 year old Xander.
January Jones is seen all around L.A. enjoying life and spending quality time with Xander. Motherhood is a role that January was meant to play. The one thing that she has the world guessing is who Xander’s father is. Miss Jones keeps her lips sealed, having us wonder if we will ever know. However, January is not planning on being a single mother, as she was recently seen hand in hand with new boyfriend Noah Miller, co-director of her upcoming film Sweetwater, co-starring Ed Harris and Jason Isaacs.
Along with a budding romantic life, January has big plans. After four long seasons on Mad Men, Miss Jones’ ice queen character has found a new husband in Henry Francis and has moved to a less central role in the HBO series. While her camera time may be limited on Mad Men, Miss Jones has been working on a few larger big screen projects, notably the next installment of X-Men, X-Men: Days of Future Past, where she will continue her role as Emma Frost, a self-serving telepathic mutant.
