Regent Street will light up London with their fabulous Christmas display on Tuesday, November the 13th.
Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford and Paralympic couple Sarah and Barney Storey are just a few of the more than forty Team GB and Paralympics GB athletes who will flick the switch on Tuesday and light the night sky with a dazzling display of holiday cheer in Regent Street.
In addition to the stunning array of lights, the popular shopping street will be bedecked with celebratory tributes to the Olympic and Paralympic teams as well as interspersed with gold filigree plaques that tell the story of the twelve days of Christmas.
This year will be the first year ever that the Regent Street Christmas Lights display runs the full length of the street, and will stretch from north of Oxford Circus, down to Piccadilly Circus and then continuing south down Regent Street in St James’s.
The evening’s celebrations will begin with a choral rendition of the popular carol the ’12 days of Christmas’ which will be followed by a special performance from Matilda The Musical as well as a host of world-class musical talent presented by Regent Street’s media partner, Classic FM. After a performance by the renowned Noah Stewart, the stars will be joined on stage by Greg Rutherford and Sarah and Barney Storey with over 40 of their team mates to celebrate the switch-on moment. The festivities will culminate with a stunning pyrotechnic display.
As one of the first purpose built shopping streets in world and as one of London’s most famous landmarks, Regent Street is a premier shopping destination and one of the most exciting places to visit in the holiday run-up to Christmas.
The celebrations next Tuesday start at 5:00 pm, and with the street closed to traffic for the evening it couldn’t be easier to come enjoy the countdown to the switch-on and soak up the atmosphere of a magical Christmas shopping experience.
