An incredible lineup of artists performed at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles to mark the 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards last night (November 18th)!
From the red carpet to the stage, the AMAs were colorful and packed with the year’s superstars. From Taylor Swift to Ludacris, and Cyndi Lauper to Maroon 5, the AMAs hosted the best of the best! Of course the most epic moments of the night were the knockout performances from Taylor Swift, Usher, Kelly Carkson, No Doubt, Nicki Minaj, P!nk, The Wanted, Ke$ha, Christina Aguilera, Pitbull and Carrie Underwood just to name a few! Among the celebrities handing out trophies were Pretty Little Liars co-stars Lucy Hale and Ashley Benson, Paula Abdul and Jenny McCarthy.
Justin Bieber was the clear winner of the evening, winning the Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist Award, the Favorite Pop/Rock Album, and the coveted Artist of the Year title. (In an unforgettable moment of the AMAs, McCarthy attempted to cover Justin Bieber with kisses when he was on stage to accept his second award!)
Along with his big wins, Bieber changed it up a little by performing a heartfelt acoustic version of his hit song As Long as You Love Me, before transitioning to the much more animated Beauty and the Beat song, which he performed with fellow winner of the night Miss Nicki Minaj.
The award for Favorite Soul/R&B Album went to Rihanna’s Talk That Talk, while Carly Rae Jepson went home with Best New Artist of the Year. David Guetta, the talented French house music producer and DJ also scored an award in the Electronic Dance Music category, a new addition to this year’s ceremony.
