When the department store windows light up with decorations and our Christmas tree shines, we all know the Holiday Season is upon us.
During the Holiday Season, we’re running around trying to get the perfect gifts for our family and friends while managing our work and the stress that normally comes with this time of year. Yes, December is a wonderful month, but for us fashionistas and PR perfectionists, it also means that we have many other fabulous things on our mind as well.
December is the only month when there seems to be a little bit of a lull in our work and people are leaving for vacation every other day. It sometimes seems like we’re the only ones left in the office! When our work is done though, and we finally finish that last project, it is time to enjoy the season with the people we love and do our last minute Christmas shopping.
Since we are detail-oriented women, gift buying can be difficult. We always look for the absolute perfect gift for everyone and nothing less than that will do. The big department stores call out our names and we even may pick up a little something for ourselves along the way. No matter what though, when our hectic work schedule winds down, we always make sure to spend a little extra time on the people we love.
Of course, as busy, career-minded women, where and what we eat is always on our mind during the Holiday Season. We love finding the trendiest restaurants during Christmas and it is important that we either cater amazing food, (because let’s face it, even the perfect city girl caters sometimes) or cook the most delectable meal that our friends and family has ever tasted. My suggestion for what to cook is this: keep it simple and classy! Think cheese platters and roasted chicken or filet mignon and sautéed vegetables. Even the most pickiest of eaters will find this meal warm and comforting on a cold winter’s night.
During the Holiday’s it is also acceptable for our personal life to share center stage with our work life. This means that date night can happen any day of the week, and a spontaneous trip to see the Christmas tree is completely normal. Don’t let your family, friends, or boyfriend feel as though your work is consuming you even during Christmas. And for those of us girls who are single during this time of year, well, put on that glittery dress and your heels and talk to that cute guy across the room at the Holiday party. We are confident and smart fashion and PR women that will radiate from you during this time of year.
So when the lights, and Christmas trees, tinsel and glitter have you all excited for the Christmas holiday remember that our PR and fashion lives can be put on hold for just a few days. This time of year is magical, (especially here in New York City) and for just one night a week maybe we can shut off our Blackberries and iPhones and enjoy all that this season has to offer. We know how to handle stress and meet deadlines, so we can put off the work to enjoy some good fine, wine and the company of our loved ones. So, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and best wishes for a fantastic 2013!
