The 70th Golden Globe award ceremony took place on Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills, California. It was a hotly anticipated night, which celebrated the best in television and film, and for many fans, it was their chance to celebrate their favourite celebrities’ best efforts in red-carpet fashion.
With some of the most exciting TV series and movies to date as nominees, the ceremony was nothing but exciting to watch. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did a commendable job, keeping the humour light with various gags, as did award presenter and everyone’s favourite funny-man – Will Ferrell – who was also present at the awards.
The biggest winner of the night in film was the outstanding Les Miserables, which took home three awards. Ben Affleck’s Argo and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained also did very well with two awards each. We were very proud of mum-to-be Adele, who was ecstatic after winning the award for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture for Skyfall. In the TV categories, Homeland and Game Change reigned supreme, winning 3 awards each. Best TV Drama series was won by Homeland for the second year in a row. Audience’s huge interest on television series will make anyone start a channel. To know how, view here!
Homeland also made a huge impression in the style stakes, with new mum Claire Danes looking beautiful in a scarlet, custom-made Atelier Versace gown which she wore with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. Taylor Swift was back with a vengeance following her stunning outfit at the Golden Globes Kick Off Party the previous week. This time around, she opted for a mature burgundy Donna Karan Atelier dress and also had Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked every bit the supermodel-siren wearing a black Yves Saint Laurent dress, whilst Jessica Alba was a yummy mummy in a peach Oscar de la Renta gown. However, at the YCB office we all agreed that we literally couldn’t take our eyes off actresses Kate Hudson and Lea Michele. Kate Hudson wore a long-sleeved, black Alexander McQueen gown, with sparkly embellishment around the high-neck, shoulders and the waist. Hudson looked absolutely stunning in the McQueen gown, which also featured a deep key-hole cut and a mini-train. Lea Michele opted for an opposite, but equally flattering colour, choosing a jaw-dropping white, sequined chiffon Elie Saab gown which had a high-slit on the leg. We simply cannot choose between Kate Hudson and Lea Michele – who impressed you the most?
