Cara Delevingne Took The Stage At Chanel’s Runway Show

January 24, 2013

Gothic and romantic, enchanting and ethereal. Such was the Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer collection presented in Paris this week. Lagerfeld sought inspiration from the mystical and the mythical, a sort of ‘Midnight’s Dream’ atmosphere. The backdrop to the catwalk was a sweeping wooded scene that was put together within the Grand Palais.

Attendees included Rita Ora, who made a statement in a red leather jacket and asymmetrical white dress, Diane Kruger, and Inès de la Fressange. Also in attendance was Clémence Poésy who looked chic and current in an oversized blazer jacket and a red lip.

Some already say that Cara Delevingne took the show by storm. Crowned Model of the Year in 2012, Cara is very familiar with high profile brands such as Chanel. She took the stage in the most effortless manner, and in the most exquisite ivory empire gown. Feathers on her head matched the ones on her shoulders, and her black-rimmed eyes added drama to the outfit. As many of the other models, she wore peep-toe boots, a very interesting addition to the collection.

It is customary for couture shows to end by showcasing the brand’s latest wedding gown. Karl Lagerfeld had two brides walk hand in hand to close the show- a very important display of opinion in light of the gay marriage debate that is currently occurring in France.

The collection was incredible, and had a lot of soul. It is wonderful to see how Lagerfeld keeps Chanel relevant, decades after the fashion house’s establishment.
