Year round style with Art on Fashion
When you work in fashion life is an unrelenting whirlwind of collections, press events and new trends. It’s exciting and stimulating but once in a while you can come down with fashion fatigue syndrome – this is usually due to writing about the Spring/Summer collections at Christmas, and obsessing about knitwear in the height of summer. It’s discombobulating to say the least.
What I look for in new brands are clothes that are beautiful, but can cater for my topsy-turvy fashion seasons. When I come across a brand that works all year round I know I’m onto a winner. I believe that great fashion should be like wearing a piece of art; Art on Fashion is a one-stop-shop for beautiful, easy wearing clothes that incorporates the work of contemporary artists. My favourite piece from their collection is the Sunrise Skirt based on a painting by John Defeo. The classic shape works beautifully with opaque tights, ankle boots and knitwear for the winter, but it would be equally lovely in the summer with wedge sandals, and a delicate camisole.
The Sepia & the Forest Reflection as well the King Dress are somewhat of a departure from my usual style; I tend to favour more diaphanous pieces that are belted at the waist as apposed to the body conscious lines of these pieces. However the figure flattering lines and the clever placement of the print makes the dresses surprisingly flattering. If you want to channel your inner Miranda Kerr, I would suggest the Out of the Blue Dress as the supermodel was spotted wearing a similar dress when out and about in New York City.
I love that the clothes from Art on Fashion are seasonless, and yet make a bold, artistic statement. As a fashion editor I need clothes that speak volumes about style, stand out from the crowd and work whatever the weather.
