Long before the sports luxe trend took hold and loungewear became the new outerwear there was Hush; a brand that pioneered the relaxed lounge style that has become a resolute staple in our wardrobes.
Whilst we’re relatively confident in looking our resolute best when dressed to the nines, looking chic whilst working a dressed down vibe is a whole different ball game. Back in 2003, Mandy Watkins started Hush from her kitchen table, with a mind to create luxury loungewear. After all, why shouldn’t you look your very best when relaxing at home with a glass of red on your couch. Initially starting with nightwear, the collection soon evolved and 10 years on has become a complete lifestyle brand, comprising of the ultimate everyday wardrobe staples to suit the many different roles the stylish 21st century woman plays.
The SS14 collection is Hush’s biggest yet, encompassing beautiful jackets, skirts, dresses in a celebration of modern femininity. Referencing Spring/Summer’s hottest trends, the collection touches on the current explosion of sports luxe in the most sophisticated way, with silky, citrus hued trousers that fall lightly from the hip and nip in varying lengths at the ankle or for warmer days, at the calf. For the denim lovers amongst us, Hush have taken the louche aesthetic of loungewear and applied it to their first ever denim collection, resulting in the most gorgeously slouchy boyfriend jeans and subtly worn shorts. Certain to become a wardrobe staple this summer, we’ll be pairing ours with a simple silk vest and a blazer for the ultimate smart casual look for the office and with a fluro striped tee and one of their sumptuous, embroidered scarves for the weekend.
We fell head over heels for the gorgeous mosaic print Grecian dress, feminine and so easy to wear; the dress is beautifully cut to fall softly around the body whilst helpfully concealing any lumps & bumps. For a slender, striking silhouette, the collections maxi t-shirt dress is a fabulously versatile piece, which we will be teaming with hair up in a messy bun, a coral lip and bold statement earrings. The very picture of understated elegance.
