Sophisticated Blazers For Work And Beyond
Sophisticated blazers for work and beyond
Every workingwoman needs to have those go-to staples in their wardrobe. Whatever trends come and go, we find ourselves reaching for those classic pieces season after season and there’s something reassuring about a classic piece that you can rely on.
Newly launched for Spring Summer 2014, our latest find Calder is set to make you want to forget about that boring black blazer and add a bit of crisp and sophistication to your office look. Fusing traditional tailoring with a luxurious touch, the inaugural collection is inspired by the menswear as womenswear trend. Reflecting on the elegance eveningwear of the British gentleman, from the smoking jacket to a black tie dinner jacket, every piece in the collection is created in sumptuous fabrics. Craftsmanship is at the core of the brand, with each design pieced together with great consideration, staying true to the British Heritage.
Laura Waite, who founded the brand, draws her inspiration from her urban lifestyle in London and the traditional country sports pursuits she grew up with in suburban Sussex. Named for her mother’s Scottish maiden name, she reflects her rich heritage through traditonal weaving and patterns of fabrics such as tweed and tartan. Excellence was instilled in Laura when she collaborated with world-renowned gun makers Holland & Holland to give her modern input on country staples, combining functional clothing with a touch of elegance and refinement. Dedicated to local fabrics, each handpicked beautiful tweed or wool used is spun from original Victorian looms, supporting some of the oldest working mills in Great Britain and each piece is beautifully tailored to compliment all shapes.
Understanding that the blazer is timeless, Calder designs with flattering the female form in mind, bringing you a piece that can last. The brand offers a bespoke service on all jackets, allowing customers to customise the linings, fabrics, trims and buttons.
The thing about a good jacket is, you can pair it with a pencil skirt and pumps for a sharp look, or with skinny jeans and a loose t-shirt to reign in a slightly dishevelled look. The team here at Your Coffee Break all have varying aesthetics so you know an item’s a winner when we’re all clamouring to get work into our wardrobes. The Crossover Long Blazer in charcoal is gorgeous with skinny trousers for channelling an androgynous look. Team it with a cream silk blouse and bright pumps to add a touch of femininity. If you ever thought pink was inappropriate for the office you’re about to change your mind. No longer the reserve of Barbie and My Little Ponies, for a grown up take on the girlish hue, the Tweed Riding Jacket in pink is sweetly sophisticated and great for softening simple work attire. Pair with a black midi dress and sub your usual red lip for striking fuchsia to really work the mature side of the saccharine shade. For the ultimate in evening sophistication you can’t go wrong with a Velvet Dinner Jacket in ebony black. Wear it with a sweeping chiffon skirt and simple drop earrings as an effortlessly chic alternative to a cocktail dress. Definitely a look that commands attention for all the right reasons.
There’s something almost armour like about a well-cut jacket. Whether you shrug one on as you head into a high-powered meeting or throw it over a pretty jumpsuit, there’s nothing like beautiful tailoring to add a touch of power to an ensemble.
