Kate Moss X Topshop: The Lowdown
When a supermodel like Kate Moss puts her name to something, you know it’s not going to land in stores quietly. Her latest offering for Topshop – after seven years might we add – definitely did not launch unnoticed.
Kate herself describes the collection as taken from her own wardrobe, with each piece inspired by a item she already owns and all tailored to scenarios in which she would wear them. With signature suiting in black with gold accents for a grown-up look, although the lame tie blouse is not for the faint hearted, we love the black and gold embroidered smock which has a hint of Kate’s boho style to it. The collection has a huge Balearic / festival influence to it. Whether you’ll be taking the fringed leather jacket to Glastonbury or packing one of the ethereal smock dresses away to sunnier climes, each piece is its own statement.
We also love the pyjamas, comfortably and fashionable in luxurious fabrics, each set comes in uniquely wearable prints from paisley to floral. Our favourite is the sleek black shirt for a more sophisticated look – wear with artfully mussed up hair just like Kate’s. The cocktail dresses are reminiscent of Kate’s iconic Dior dress which she savvily DIY-ed into a mini! Think lots of gold and even more sparkles to dance the night away in.
While the collection is obviously very Kate, it will not be for everyone. We think it captures her essence perfectly, however there are some weaker pieces including the star and heart prints which feel a little forced into the collection. The standout pieces are the labours of Kate’s love and it definitely shows. The collection is available on Topshop and Net-a-Porter now; see what we’ll be trying to get a hold of from the collection below.
