Be an amazing autumn bride
Wedding fever is upon us. The post arrives and there’s another invite. Who knew we had this many friends?! Summer is always rife with happy couples tying the knot, eager to get hitched in blazing sunshine. But the advantages of holding out until a little later in the year shouldn’t be overlooked. Not only are there very few weddings, making yours all the more special, but from what we’ve seen of the John Charles collection the clothes are gorgeous.
The warmer summer nights might have a particularly sunny and spritely feel, but there’s something wonderfully majestic about Autumn. The rich colours of turning leaves, ripening fruit and glorious sunsets can all be reflected in the wedding theme. Plus, cooler evenings give us the perfect excuse to find a luxurious shawl to accompany our outfit, and there will be infinitely less make-up touch ups – so you certainly won’t hear us complaining!
Autumn trends are already being showcased on the catwalk, and this year’s colour choice is undoubtedly the main focus. Many designers have opted for warm pinks, golds, ivories and our current favourite, deep red. These warmer colours are perfect for an exquisite autumnal wedding as the reds and golds are regal and elegant, whilst we can rely on the ivories and pinks to add a touch of romance and that all important feminine edge. The bride may be wearing white, but the mother of the bride, the bridesmaids and the other wedding guests will all be embracing the autumnal palette that has inspired the John Charles collection. With delicate lace, draping sleeves and captivating head pieces to match – we’re totally sold.
Long gone are the days when the mother of the bride was confined to heavy and unflattering skirt suits. The exploration of deeper pastels, autumnal tones and dainty lace overlays ensures the pieces are both on trend and stunningly sophisticated. No longer will we think of autumn weddings as an awkward time for both fashion and the weather, but rather we will get excited about the opportunity to work a light jacket, wear golden tones, and add to the glamour of the day by sipping champagne in an elegant lace dress.
Summer or not, we’re all about embracing the great outdoors, and this autumn the natural world is poised to act as a major influence on bridal wear and guest outfits at those idyllic September weddings. The bride isn’t the only one who’ll be able to embrace autumnal wedding trends. These heavier fabrics not only counteract the colder temperatures but further echo the changing habitats of nature – never more evident than in autumn – whilst effortlessly oozing old school glamour. When brides aren’t sporting flowing silks it’s expected that hourglass silhouettes and figure hugging designs – intended to show off a bride’s curves to perfection – will remain popular as summer turns to autumn. Wedding wear collections will inevitably follow suit, with key members of the wedding party also opting for the elegantly fitted feel of the Autumn 2014 collections. We’re expecting a dash of colour in wedding outfits to become a common sight, as it enables guests to embrace a sense of summer fun even after the heat has subsided.
As always, the traditional hats and fascinators will play a vital part in any wedding ensemble: after the bride’s dress they surely receive the most attention and critique (Kate and Will’s wedding, anyone?) This autumn they will be architecturally spectacular.
Whether working a chic updo or loose flowing locks, no bride is fully dressed without perfect hair. This autumn, in keeping with the stunning silhouette dresses, expect hair to have a sculptural feel with striking swept up styles, neat buns and slicked back ponytails. Tousled summer curls will be long gone. Make-up hues will be distinctly autumnal: beautiful browns, ivories, reds and golds take centre stage yet again, creating a warm yet striking look and altogether perfectly reflecting the season of change.
All in all, autumn wedding trends are set to turn heads. Whether they’re fitted and figure-hugging or floaty and floral, we’re already enchanted.
