Simplify your street-style with these autumn friendly shades
The nights may be drawing in earlier and there may be much more of a chill in the air, but that’s no excuse to sacrifice certain areas of your wardrobe. Sure, it might be time to swap the sandals for boots and pile on the knits but you still need to protect your peepers. Winter days are often still as bright as summer ones – just not as warm – so it’s important to look after your best asset, and the only one that’s remotely visible on those exceptionally chilly days. Spotted on Jennifer Lawrence, street-style stars will be stocking up on Sunnies of London this winter, whose unique styles crafted from bamboo add a perfect dose of chic to your big city style. Intrigued? We thought so. That’s why we caught up with owner, founder and CEO of the brand, Jack Beadle to get the low down on all things Sunnies of London.
‘I love ‘people watching’ on the tube’ Jack tells us on what inspired the brand, ‘I think it’s a great way to find out about the latest trends and styles’. Sunnies of London was launched with the intention of establishing eyewear trends for Londoners and beyond, and with the classic designs with a modern twist, that Sunday brunch Instagram shot will look that little bit better.
Described by Jack as iconic and quintessentially British, Sunnies of London has an aesthetic detailed to its niche with handcrafted frames in classic colours, resulting in what Jack refers to as a ‘tangible sense of style and sophistication’. Crafted from light bamboo wood, each pair of Sunnies of London frames has an entirely unique cut and due to the grain and texture of the wood no two pairs are the same. Perfect for concealing tired eyes over the party season or covering up that 6 am spin class, the brand have launched two collections of their signature frames: The Belgrave and The Mayfair collection, both unisex styles.
Creating a unique product like Sunnies of London is not the easiest feat. Materials have to be sourced from far and wide and everything is carefully designed and tweaked to the finest degree to ensure quality and sustainability. Sunnies of London might always keep Jack on the lookout for the latest trends, but for wearers of the brand it’s all about standing out from the crowd this season. ‘Choose something unique and let it excel your confidence’, Jack explains.
One of the great things about Sunnies of London is its street-style credentials are never ending! Strolling down King’s Road gets an added injection of cool when wearing Sunnies of London. Pairing the lightweight bamboo frames with a luxe knit, leather leggings and a chic overcoat will ease any strain of walking into work on a Monday morning or even heading into the gym for an intense session. No matter what the activity, the modern shades will leave you looking your best.
The brand currently operate a successful e-commerce site, shipping the Belgrave and Mayfair collection primarily to the UK, Europe, Australia and Asia. As a newly established brand, it’s important for Jack and the team behind Sunnies of London to maintain a strong online presence, particularly as they look to expand their product range for the future. With plans to attend some of the major trade shows next year as well, there are exciting times ahead for the brand and plenty more opportunities for growth. ‘We’ve had a very successful launch and now we’re looking to go from strength to strength. I foresee us continuing to be a trendsetter but now as a household name.’ Jack tells YCB.
With this we completely agree. We’ll take a pair of Belgravia and Mayfair please and we’ll see you at brunch!
