Winter must-haves for a truly enviable wardrobe
Like most millennial women, you are probably always thinking ahead. Whether that’s your job, your to-do list, or your style—you’re looking to the future. And if you’re anything like me, even though the leaves have just started to change into their fall palette, I am already thinking about the upcoming winter season. Walks in the snow, Christmas markets, New Year’s resolutions and of course, all the winter must haves I’ll need to stock my closet with this season. As they say, early bird catches the worm (or the sales!), after all.
If you’re a little lost as to what you should be adding to your closet this winter, check out Your Coffee Break’s favourite picks for the season to come and the best places to get all your essentials:
1. Casual boyfriend jeans
Winter time means holiday time which also means a lot of candy, cookies, and all the hot chocolate you can get your hands on. We all love to indulge, but after a few holiday parties, you may not be jumping to slip on a pair of skinny jeans. A pair of boyfriend jeans (how cute are these ones from Spotted on Celeb?) is the perfect option, especially when paired with a chic top and warm booties.
2. A lace shirt
Holiday season also means fabulous outfits that can be a tad more over-the-top than your normal ensemble. A classic lace shirt in a dark colour is alluring and perfect to pair with black jeans, a circle skirt or even shorts and tights. We especially love this one a la Kendall Jenner, who just may be our style inspiration this coming winter.
3. Fur coats/vests
If there was any time to add a little luxe to your look, it’s this winter. A fur coat or vest will make any look ten times more fashion-forward. Plus, you get to stay cozy and warm even in the chilliest of weather. Look to Urbancode for some of our favourite fur pieces and stock up on this reoccuring trend.
4. Sweatshirt:
For those snowy days when a simple long sleeve T just won’t cut it, you need at least one casual and comfy sweatshirt. Add a button down shirt underneath this one from Finders Keepers with the collar popped out the top for a refined look that’s equal parts snuggly and stylish.
5. Knit dress
The concept of dressing professionally in the wintertime can be somewhat of a nightmare. How do you look put together and stay warm without adding a ton of bulky layers? Try investing in one knit dress that you can easily layer with tights, boots, and a simple cardigan.
6. Leather jacket
Everyone needs one. That slick, worn in, bad ass leather jacket you can pull out for late night drinks, casual get togethers and indoor concerts. This winter opt for a leather jacket with unexpected details. Asymmetrical hems, cotton details, and zippered sleeves all add a touch of originality to an otherwise classic piece.
