5 of the Best Golden Globes Trends and How to Wear Them

January 12, 2017

Awards season is upon us yet again which can mean only one thing; lots of beautiful dresses. We love nothing more than staying up late to see who steals the show and who makes the most daring choices on the red carpet. Today we’re channelling the best-dressed celebrities and sharing our tips on how to wear the best trends from the Golden Globes this year.

Cut-out

Drew Barrymore wore this ethereal gown which featured sheer panels, a hint of sparkle, cut-out shoulders and a plunging neckline. Staying away from the perfectly-preened princess vibe she rocked black nail polish, a dark smokey eye and her signature ‘I woke up like this’ loose waves.

Sienna Miller also sported the cut-out trend in a white figure-hugging gown which exposed her back and waist.

To incorporate the look into your wardrobe why not try this ivory cut-out dress designed by Australian brand Keepsake. The long sleeves and slight v-neck make it wearable yet formal whilst the cold shoulder detail gives it a modern edge. Wear with a simple strappy sandal and mirrored clutch bag for laid-back glamour.

Plunging neck line

We can’t get enough of Jessica Chastain’s style, from her pulled-back, sleek copper hair to this off the shoulder embellished blue gown. She was the picture of elegance as she dominated the red carpet in this Prada dress which boasted a deep plunging neckline.

For something a little more wearable we love this v-neck mesh and lace dress from David’s Bridal. The pastel blue is perfect for spring and would equally suit both bridesmaid and guest for the upcoming wedding season. Complete the look with a simple up-do and drop pendant necklace.

Pink ruffles

If the thought of ruffles makes you remember the favourite party dress you wore as a child, don’t worry – this trend is way more stylish than you might think.

We admit this pink chiffon dress as seen on Zoe Zaldana isn’t one for wearing down your local on a Friday night, but ruffles are set to be big news again this year.

This Vera Wang dress is floaty and romantic, bias cut and nips in at the waist for a classic silhouette. The chiffon ruffles are a nod to the trend without being too wild and the variety of colours available means you don’t have to settle for pink.

Lace florals

Lilly Collins didn’t shy away from colour when she stepped out in this pink lace embroidered gown.

For a similar look this Chi Chi London dress doesn’t disappoint and the shorter length makes it a handy addition to your spring/summer shortlist. The sweetheart neckline is flattering, feminine and shows just enough flesh to make you feel at your best.

If you’re looking for an everyday version then we also recommend this French Connection lace tea dress. It’s comfortable enough to wear around the office but still put-together enough for cocktails after work.

Bright lime

If you’re sick of the dull winter days then this trend could be just what you need. Natalie Portman certainly brightened up the award ceremony when she was photographed wearing this simple lime gown from Prada. The cropped sleeves mean the dress doesn’t swamp her petite frame and the jewel trim sets it off perfectly.

We’ve found this cute pencil dress from Walls which matches the colour to a tee and won’t break the bank either. Save it for those days when you need a little pick me up and you won’t regret it!
