Spring Summer Bag Goals: Introducing Elena Karavasili

Spring Summer Bag Goals: Introducing Elena Karavasili

March 13, 2017

It’s not just your wardrobe that needs a refresh come spring/summer; accessories can really update your look too. We’ve selected our favourite pieces from this striking new collection by Elena Karavasili, the unique handbag designer on everyone’s arm. This luxury brand boasts so many fashion-forward styles – prepare to get a little bit carried away…!

Elena is a Greek-born, London-based accessories designer with an impressive background. She graduated from the prestigious Parsons School of Design and achieved a Master’s at the world-famous London College of Fashion.

It was during her MA in Fashion Artefact that she discovered her love for leather and marble – two premium materials she now works with – leading to the launch of her self-titled label in 2015.

Sure to add a spring to your step and a pop of colour to our rainy British springtime, her accessories are built upon architectural influences. Her designs are robust, structured and with clashing textures. She believes that beauty is in simplicity – Elena’s pieces are so timeless and will see you through season’s beyond.

Curious about the fusion of fashion and art, Elena has a real eye for the abstract. Geometric and symmetrical silhouettes make her designs distinctive that stand out against the crowd of classic totes and crossbody bags.

She magically blends modern styles with two cultural movements: Minimalism and Classicism. We love the muted earthy tones and monochrome palette carried throughout the collection.

The brand is inspired by cityscapes, looking to skyscrapers and towering buildings from the modern metropolitan cities in which Elena has lived: Athens, London and New York. These industrial aesthetics are complemented by her choice of grey and beige tones, symbolising steel and concrete views.

She also references her Mediterranean roots with rigid panels that mirror the Doric columns of the Ancient Greek temples, while marble materials salute the majestic Greek and Roman monuments. She skilfully merges urban scenes with the simple way of island life.

Her target consumer are those who seek sophisticated, investment pieces and looking for that perfect blend of fashion with function. She creates for the basic needs of the modern woman and uses the most durable, long-lasting leathers that withstand the hustle and bustle of her busy life.

We at YCB are loving these four handbags:

Tholos Bucket Bag

The bucket shape is the must-buy bag of the season. Made from supple leather and smooth suede, the Tholos is available in four neutral colours that will complement any wardrobe.

Mini Mono Backpack

Join the fashion pack and their love for 90s-inspired bags. The Mini Mono Backpack is an elegant way to channel the look with its simple, understated and fuss-free style. Polished yet relaxed, it’s made from nappa leather and available in three easy-to-wear pastel hues.

Hera Clutch

A classic clutch with unique craftsmanship, the Hera combines a timeless shape with artisan details to the piped panel. The bag is made from premium nappa leather and suede, and available in three soft shades.

Nerus Tote Bag

The Nerus is a practical, roomy tote designed with everyday life in mind. Simple yet striking with column details and contrasting textured panels, it’s available in three colours that resemble the white-wash villages of Greece and the piercing blue coasts.

All four styles are part of the Realm collection, a beautiful range that brings together classic silhouettes with rich tones and luxurious textured fabrics. Realm references natural, back to basics, earthy elements – Elena translates water, fire and air through fabric and colour.

Each bag exhibits excellent, high-quality craftsmanship and all materials have been ethically sourced.
