Even though Austin is considered one of the weirdest cities in America (that’s actually its slogan) it doesn’t mean that it’s not an absolutely fabulous place to visit with a bevy of diverse activities and entertainment for everyone. Here are a few things you may want to consider for your next trip to one of the fastest growing cities in America.
Hit up a music festival
If you happen to be in Austin between April 19-22 check out the Old Settler’s Music Festival in Tilmon. Headliners include J.D. McPherson, Calexico, Greensky Bluegrass and I’m With Her. For the first time it will be held in Caldwell County, southeast of Lockhart.
Try a Pool Burger
Umami Burger is out. Now it is all about the Pool Burger. If you love eating out of a trailer with a little bit of tiki ambiance then Pool Burger is for you. Austin is a spectacular city for golf. For the past two years it has hosted the WGC-Dell Match Play. And now you can feel like a champ with a stop at the Avery Ranch Golf Club which hosts many great local golf tournaments if you want to watch or consider applying for membership if you find yourself in the area frequently.
The club is only a 20 minute drive Northwest of Austin and it is an absolutely beautiful course with a creek, beautiful trees and sprawling green. Truly a sight to see, it is also considered one of the best Par 3s in the entire city. It is definitely a must-stop. It should be noted that the course can accommodate golfers of all levels.
Pioneer Farms
Looking for a fun family friendly activity that is pure Austin? Check out Pioneer Farms. It has six themed historic areas featuring self-guided walking tours. The tours include an 1841 Tonkawa Encampment, an 1853 Walnut Creek Greenbelt, an 1868 German Emigrant Farm, an 1873 Texian Farm, an 1887 Cotton Planter’s Farm and an 1899 Sprinkle Corner rural village. This is Texas history in its purest form and fun for all ages.

For any movie buffs this is the ultimate filmgoing experience. After all, it was named “coolest theatre in the world” by Wire.com and “best theatre in the nation” by Entertainment Weekly.
