Praise Issa. Though there are plenty of new Netflix romcoms and movies out, when it comes to television, it gets a little slow in the summer. But things are about to turn around because the trailer for Season 3 of Insecure on HBO just dropped.
It looks like this season Issa is really trying to take control of her life but, like everything, it doesn’t go exactly perfect. She is still living with her ex Daniel (Y’lan Noel) even though she is trying to save enough to move out on her own. As for her BFFs Molly, Tiffany and Kelly are navigating their own exciting journeys including pregnancy and breakups.
We are so excited for the return of this show as well as Issa Rae’s well-deserved Emmy nomination for best actress in a comedy series. This was actually a huge year for black women being recognized for their work in television, though it took way too long. Tracee Ellis-Ross got her third nomination for black-ish, Regina King was nominated for the Limited Series or Movie Seven Seconds (Netflix), Leslie Jones for SNL, Zazie Beetz for Atlanta, Tiffany Haddish for hosting SNL, Wanda Sykes for black-ish, Samira Wiley for Handmaids Tale and of course, Viola Davis for the Scandal/HTGAWM crossover (and also Davis gets nominated everytime she walks across a room because she is incredible.)
“Insecure” will return for its third season on August 12 at 10:30PM on HBO.
