Hold on to your pants because The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is becoming a musical. Though we were hoping for a third film, this sounds pretty good too.
According to Hello Giggles, the 2005 film based on the book of the same name by Ann Brashares is being produced by Tony-winning producer Scott Delman and his production company, Blue Spruce Productions. This is the same team that made the smash hit that is Mean Girls the Musical as well as the highly lauded Waitress. Basically this team is really awesome at taking great movies and making them great musicals.
The original film and the sequel were both box office and critical hits and fans are also huge fans of the cast’s (Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn) IRL friendships so the buzz for a musical is quite strong. And who doesn’t want to see a show about a pair of pants that fits four different women with very different body shapes perfectly. It’s a fashion miracle!
