Sleepwear to Really Help You Sleep
Nightire – from the best Zoom outfit to a great night’s sleep
Sleep, or the lack of it, has been a hot topic in recent years, but became even more so when the pandemic set in. Searches for the terms “insomnia” and “can’t sleep” have reached an all-time high, according to Google Trends. We are either struggling to fall asleep because we’re dogged by anxious thoughts or sleeping too much as the gravity of our current situation leaves us lethargic and sapped of willpower to get up and at ‘em.
Founder of London-born sustainable sleepwear brand Nightire, Nina Clark, gets the battle. In a quest to conquer her own sleeplessness, she developed a range of beautiful sleep-supporting bamboo PJs.
Nightire’s range of bold colours and funky prints promises to brighten up your day and night. But most importantly, the pyjamas are purposefully designed to help you enjoy a better night’s snooze. If you are not into the whole bamboo pyjamas but looking for something a little more luxurious check on Eberjey that provides quality and luxurious sleepwear minus the cost.
How’s that, you might ask? The range – which includes sleepwear, sleep accessories and bedding – is made of organic bamboo. The fabric is super soft to the touch, vegan, and a breeze to clean.
The most exciting aspect of bamboo is its temperature regulating properties. So, when you don Nightire sleepwear, sweat is wicked away from your skin, leaving you cool and calm come bedtime, or for a late-night nip-out for some ice-cream. Because you really can wear the pretty patterned pyjamas anywhere, anytime; red carpets not excluded (but that’s a different story).
Since the start of the pandemic, Nightire has also ramped up their drive to educate folks on the importance of sleep. They host weekly Instagram Live interviews with sleep experts, have launched a sleep e-book and share tested mental health and selfcare tips across the Nightire channels.
What inspired the new range and the brand as a whole? Nina explains: “Like many women I know, I have this thing called ‘can’t-shut-my-brain-off-to-go-to-sleep’ syndrome. I began doing research into what could help a person sleep better and tried to apply it in my nightly routine. I’ve used black-out blinds, tried relaxing baths, banning phones in the bedroom, and tried anything I could to keep my body temperature on an even keel. That included buying the right sleepwear, which, in turn, led me to focus on a sleepy industry that seemed like it had a lot of room for functional innovation, and a bit more personality. That is how the idea for Nightire came about. All prints are inspired by my home country of South Africa, so anyone can jump into a bright and summery set of jammies no matter the weather outside.”
