New competition challenged Brits to share their best ‘mini me’ photos
It’s that time of year where cute matching pyjamas and coordinated cosy Christmas sweaters are all the rage. Even celebs love to get in on the wholesome action, with famous families from the Rooneys to the Ramseys posing for festive photos last year.
Google searches for ‘matching pyjamas’ are up 48% in the past month alone, and expected to continue through December, and the hashtag #MiniMe has been used more than 9 million times on Instagram.
To celebrate the wholesome trend, a new competition has crowned the cutest parent-child matching combo, with 55% of entries dressed in matching Christmas PJs.
The contest, launched by Matalan, asked Brits to share their best pictures with their ‘mini me’s’, with outfits ranging from matching Christmas PJs and Halloween costumes to formal suits. Out of all the fantastic entries, Owen Jones, from Stockport was named the winner, and will receive the £500 Matalan gift voucher prize.
Owen’s winning entry showed his partner and soon to be two year old son, celebrating their first Christmas together in their new home with their matching Christmas PJs.
Owen said: “Wow this is such a surprise! I love spending time with my partner and our (almost!) two year old son, and we can’t wait for us to dress alike in future.”
The fashion experts at Matalan said: “We were seriously impressed with the entries to our Mini Me’s competition. It’s clear that Brits love nothing more than finding an excuse to dress up with their mini me’s in matching outfits!
“Whether it’s celebrating the festive season in your matching PJs, or putting on your best dress or formal suit for a special occasion, it’s a heartwarming display of affection, and we all know that the adults enjoy it just as much as kids!
“We hope the competition entries help spread some festive cheer as we all get ready to countdown for Christmas – after all, spending time with family is what it’s all about!”
