Christmas is here! People have started prepping for the big day by doing their Christmas shopping, decorating, and, most importantly, selecting their Christmas trees! We have worked with Douglas & Gordon and their team have put together some top tips on how to keep your tree looking its best this festive season, as searches for ‘How to look after your Christmas tree” are a recent breakout term.
Put Your Tree In Water ASAP:
As soon as you bring your tree home, it’s essential to put it in water immediately! Keeping your tree as hydrated as possible from the start will help with keeping it looking as healthy and green as possible.
Cut The Trunk:
It’s essential to saw off around 3cm (about 1.18 in) of the trunk; this will help the tree absorb as much water as possible, which is key to a healthy tree.
Keep Away From Heat:
Make sure your tree is not in direct sunlight, near a radiator or a fireplace, as this will start dehydrating the tree. It is best to place your tree in a cool area of your home with limited heat sources.
Water Every Day:
Hydration is vital for a good-looking tree! Make sure to refresh the tree’s water daily. There is no need to add anything additional to the water; using plain water from the tap works perfectly.
Pick The Decorative Lights Wisely:
Ensure the lights on your tree do not heat up too much. Ideally, use LED lights as they generate less heat, meaning there is less chance of your tree suffering from dehydration.
Happy Holidays!
