Where once hung our faux fur, now hangs our waterproof trench coats. Our wardrobes must adapt to the seasons, and we can all agree the beloved woolen turtle-neck has no place amongst airy summer linen. However, it doesn’t stop there. There are certain palettes and designs that are reserved for particular times of the year, and the same holds true for our accessories. We leave the sparkly diamontes of the festive season to gather dust as we sport playful, colourful beads on long, warmer days.
We’re all fond of a seasonal finish, yet more and more often, we find ourselves at a crossroads between trends and timeless. Here at YCB, we believe you can have both. While our wardrobes adjust to the weather, we’re continuously sporting a classic piece that transcends fashion fads. Introducing the beautifully-designed collection of watches from The Camden Watch Company, timepieces that can be elegantly worn all year round, for the foreseeable future.
Anneke Short and Jerome Robert are the Anglo-Swiss duo behind the Camden Watch Company. Founded in 2014, each high-quality timepiece is designed, sketched, reworked, and refined to perfection in the company’s Camden Town office.
The collection is inspired by British heritage, specifically within the Camden area. Why Camden, you ask? It’s an area that goes beyond a typical London tourist destination, with an industrial past as eclectic as its vibrant, bustling present. Anneke and Jerome saw the beauty in the Victorian horse hospitals turned into market stalls, the steam train turntables turned into gin warehouses, and decided to showcase this historic gem of an area through what they knew best; watches.
Today, they pride themselves on infusing their creations with history through meticulous detail, concentrating on every intricacy from the embossed ‘C’ on the crown to the engraving on the case back. The watches are given the duo’s signature high-end treatment, transforming them from fashion accessories into timeless pieces.
With the finest quality Japanese quartz movements and crafted with high-end expertise, the unique creations made by the Camden Watch Company are available for exceptionally good value. The icing on the cake? They have now introduced two, brand new editions to the beautiful No.24 range.
Named after a bus route that runs through Camden (the oldest route in the whole of London, mind you), the No.24 is an elegant, feminine watch with an industrial edge. It features a petite 27mm case with a brushed dial and double-stitched strap, a design based on the straps used on the saddles of the horses that pulled the boats up and down Regent’s Canal. This finish gives the vintage design that unexpected industrial kick, in true Camden Watch Company style. The midnight dial (based on the No.27 Midnight edition launched in 2022) is inspired by the colours of dusk. Expect subtle shades of blue and black to reflect the darkening sky, as well as the hues of the last golden rays of sun. The midnight blue dial features rose gold accents and is surrounded by a black iron-plated stainless steel case. This timepiece is available on three straps- oxblood leather, tan, and black.
It doesn’t stop there- for those fond of the dark red palette of the Oxblood strap, we come bearing wonderful news. Released in January, you can now get your hands on the No.24 Type II Oxblood editions. These creations are revised editions of the brand’s classic No.24. They feature a sunburst silver dial with a raised index frame, finished with a modern yet timeless dial design set in the signature vintage watch case. The deep shade of oxblood is versatile enough to be worn with a multitude of outfits from day to night, and acts as a strikingly beautiful alternative to regular leather straps.
With prices from £69, the Camden Watch Company use their high-end expertise to create beautiful yet affordable timepieces which can be purchased on their website or at their bricks and mortar store in Camden. This year, save your wallet from flimsy accessories that can’t withstand a full season. Swap trends for timelessness with a durable, beautiful timepiece from the Camden Watch Company.
