Your living room is most likely the first or second most used room in your home. Your living room is the place where you host guests, relax in the evening while watching tv and enjoy your lunch before heading out during the day. With you spending so much time in your living room, it’s essential you make it a space you are proud of and want to relax in, instead of resenting it when you walk in – there is nothing worse than not feeling proud when you walk into a room.
To upgrade your living room, you can do it in many ways, some costly, whilst others are more affordable, however, aside from cost, there are some updates that are very simple and easily done – in fact, the tips we are going to suggest can be done within a matter of hours.
From installing fly screens – to stop the bugs from coming in when you have your windows open, to adding art on your walls and buying a rug – rugs are great! Below is our guide on three simple ways to upgrade your living room.
Add art or photos to your walls
When you walk into your living room and look at your walls, do you think they are bare? If you haven’t got anything hanging on your walls, then this is a quick change you can make that will instantly change a room’s dynamic. Print out some nice photos or head to your local craft shop and buy some pieces of artwork that you can hang on the wall. This will add colour, make the room feel more filled and a touch of style. Pinterest is a great place for some inspiration.
Consider adding a rug
Another simple way to upgrade your living room is to purchase a rug and layer it on top of your current flooring. Whether you have carpet or laminate flooring, a rug is the perfect way to change the feel of a room. Just like artwork and photos, a rug adds colour to the room, it fills empty spaces and it’s affordable to do. You can get rugs in all shapes and sizes, meaning you can add them to any part of your living room, whether under your sofa or in the centre of the room. You can then work out on the rug when doing your home workouts.
Indoor Plants
We love indoor plants! They are great in so many ways and look perfect as an extra layer to your living room. Our recommendation is to pop into your local garden centre and take a look at all the different indoor plants. See which ones will look good in your living room and remember to look at how hard they are to keep alive. Some indoor plants will live forever, whilst others are more high maintenance.
