How Katie Holmes Masterfully Curates Her Fall Wardrobe

Katie Holmes is one of the most interesting fashion icons to really ever exist. Some have called her a reluctant style icon as she doesn’t exactly adhere to trends though she doesn’t quite eschew them either. She tends to take one so-called trendy item, like ballet flats or Adidas Sambas, and then pair them with something unlikely like a satin dress. Or she takes a statement piece, like her viral cashmere bra, and breaks the internet. Holmes told Elle U.K. of her now famous sweater bra, “I wasn’t expecting it to be something people would talk about … I just put it on and left the house.”

She runs around New York City in a state of complete effortless chic with her long hair either in a messy bun or just free-flowing (her now college-bound daughter Suri has a similar vibe), Katie Holmes has established herself as one of the most stylish women in New York City. Her favorite designers include Ulla Johnson, Khaite, and Tory Burch. Holmes, who is currently about to star in a revival of Thorton Wilder’s classic American play Our Town on Broadway, shines during all seasons but in the fall she really shows her stuff with her style chops. Here are some tips for Katie Holmes on building the perfect fall wardrobe.

A Cozy Fall Sweater

Katie Holmes does appreciate high fashion but she is also all about comfort when she is just running around NYC. Even though it is barely fall she has a classic fall sweater already in the rotation. Holmes loves this sweater and has been seen wearing it on multiple occasions. Here she paired them with wide leg jeans and ballet flats.

A Barn Jacket

Barn jackets are the official coat of the fall and Katie is on it but with her own twist. She opted for this bright red one and again paired it with classy ballet flats.

Wide Leg Jeans

Some stylists are saying skinny jeans are back but not for Katie Holmes. The wider the better for the Dawson’s Creek star. She chose these black cropped, raw-hem jeans from Bsides denim for a casual stroll. Now that is a wide leg!

Drop-Waist Black Dress

A black dress is for all seasons but Katie managed to find one that is practical but also stylish and again pairs perfectly with flats. To a Barney’s pop up during Fashion Week Katie wore this black drop-waisted dress from the London-based brand TOVE.

A Classic Blazer

You can never go wrong with a classic blazer. Many opt for black or tweed but not Katie. She opted for the camel. This Fauvette Petra Blazer from Blazé Milano is a single-breasted camel fur jacket. Now hers cost $2,100 but you can get something similar for a more friendly price point.
