Meghan Markle Just Switched Up Her Look With Autumn’s Chillest Hair Trend

This autumn, we’re embracing a noticeable shift in hair trends, steering away from the perfectly styled, blown-out curls of past seasons.

Instead, we’re opting for more relaxed, lived-in looks that reflect a more effortless aesthetic. The focus is on low-maintenance styles that still look chic and polished, without requiring hours of prep.

Meghan Markle recently debuted this new look at this year’s LA Children’s Hospital Gala, with the duchess swapping her usually uber-polished locks for more casual beachy waves.

Nicole Petty, hair expert at Milk + Blush, comments on how beachy mermaid waves are back in a big way for autumn and gives expert tips on how to achieve the look.

“Soft, undone curls have been the go-to look for many celebrities lately, including Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid and Sabrina Carpenter. Even on high-fashion runways like Paris Fashion Week, we saw beachy mermaid waves dominating, signalling that natural texture is very much in vogue for the cooler season.

“And now, Meghan Markle has taken this trend mainstream with her appearance at the LA Children’s Hospital Gala, where she traded her typically sleek and refined hairstyle for more relaxed, tousled waves.

“Her new look is the perfect example of how this season is all about finding beauty in simplicity and embracing styles that are both effortless and elegant – the perfect antidote to the high-maintenance coiffures we’ve seen over the summer.

“To recreate the beachy waves aesthetic, you’ll need to focus on texture and movement rather than perfection.

“For those with natural waves, achieving this look is as simple as applying a bit of texturising spray or curl cream to enhance their texture. Others may need to use a heated waver tool or a wide-barrel curling wand to create the desired waves. If so, make sure to use a heat protectant and leave the ends of your hair out for that undone, effortless finish.

“Alternatively, avoid heat altogether by plaiting hair overnight in loose braids and wake up to effortless waves. Make sure to prep your hair with a lightweight mousse or texture spray to enhance its natural volume and hold.”
