Christmas Party Outfits for Every Occasion

The festive season calls for Christmas party outfits with sparkle. Have fun with your partywear, from showstopping accessories for the office quiz to a stunning dress for cocktails with friends.

As the festive season approaches, finding the perfect Christmas party outfit is all about balancing glamour with comfort. Whether you’re headed to a glamorous cocktail evening, an office party, or a casual festive gathering, there’s no need to compromise on style or versatility. Here, we have worked with M&S to share their top tips for making sure you shine at every event this season.

Dress to impress (yourself) all season long

Christmas is the perfect excuse to embrace festive glamour – whether it’s with a festive red dress, working with satin, or making a statement in a velvet suit, it’s a great excuse to get all glammed up.

For a more laid-back gathering, dresses and jumpsuits can be easily dressed down with chunky boots and a cozy sweater for a look that balances festive fun with comfort.

“This season is all about having fun with your outfits, adding a bit of sparkle to everyday looks, and ensuring you feel your best at every festive occasion,” says Jessica Rae Long, Creative Stylist at M&S. “From adding bold accessories to mixing textures like velvet and sequins, it’s easy to put together an outfit that shines, and is often about upgrading what you already have in the wardrobe.”

Showstopping jewellery accessories for painting the town red

When it comes to party dressing, the right accessories can make all the difference. Adding statement jewellery is a fuss-free and budget-friendly way to give your look an upgrade. Demand attention with a show-stealing evening bag in a jewel tone or opt for a diamante clutch, like this one. Adding an embellished headband, or satin bow will crown your outfit and prove itself a reliable icebreaker.

Accessories are the easiest way to elevate any outfit. If in doubt, wear head-to-toe black and get cocktail-ready in seconds with a swipe of red lipstick and a matching red bag” says Jessica.

This season, pearls are back with a modern twist. Irregular, quirky shapes—like oversized pearl drop earrings—add a contemporary feel to the classic look. Layering with gold or silver jewellery creates a bold, more-is-more approach, while bigger statement pieces, such as chunky chain necklaces, can effortlessly create a new look to already worn party dresses.

Office party? Give the mirror ball a run for its money

Heading to the office Christmas party? Here’s a foolproof formula to make sure you stand out for all the right reasons: pair something fancy with something comfy. Opt for a statement piece like a sequinned blazer and pair it with an understated dress, or balance a glitzy skirt with a comfortable knitted jumper for extra warmth. You can also pair a simpler Christmas dress with colourful tights in red or green for example.

“The office party is the perfect opportunity to mix comfort with statement pieces. The key is balancing bold, attention-grabbing elements with more refined basics. That way, you’ll look stylish and feel comfortable all night,” says Jessica.
