Here at Your Coffee Break we believe in putting those brief but very necessary coffee breaks to good use, be it reading our latest articles or even getting in a quick work out!
That’s why we’ve gathered a few exercises to do at your desk that will not only tone you up, but will give you that well-needed boost of energy before you get back to work.
Standing Calf Raises: Stand with your feet about shoulder width apart. Roll up until you’re standing on the ball of your foot. Do several fast reps of 15. When you get to the fifteenth raise, hold it for 10 seconds or more.
Leg Circles: Sitting in your desk chair as you normally would, extend one leg out straight in front of you. Lift it up slightly from your chair (so that the back of your thigh is off of the seat). Circle it around in one direction for five to ten seconds and then switch and go the opposite direction. Repeat eight times. Lift the other leg and do the same.
Hip Flexion: Sit tall and lift your left foot off the floor a few inches, knee bent. Hold for 2 seconds, lower and repeat for 16 reps. Repeat on the other side.
Ab Twists:A little more obvious at your desk, but worth a few awkward glances from colleagues for toned abs! Hold a water bottle at chest level and, keeping the knees and hips forward, gently twist to the left as far as you comfortably can, feeling your abs contract. Twist back to the center and move to the left for a total of 10 reps.
Like a prayer: This one exercises your chest and arms. Press your palms together as hard as you can for about 20-30 seconds. Repeat! It doesn’t get much easier than that!
