Get Ready For The Holidays With These Top 3 Christmas Hairstyles

Leo Bancroft, the hottest stylist of 2012 has created a list of Christmas hair do’s, taking you from day to evening, whether you are attending a Christmas work do, a New Year’s party or a family get together.

This Christmas season will be all about big, bouncy hair, with the comeback of the quiff.

The bigger the better!

One of Leo’s key styles for this Christmas period would be a volumised down do, whether it is a bouncy blow dry or curls with volume. London Hairstylist Leo BancroftMulberry and Diane von Furstenberg also showed off bouffant and teased hairstyles in their Spring/Summer collections, but this style is great enough to continue into Autumn/Winter 2012. The first thing is to blast some of Leo’s dry shampoo into your roots and mid-lengths for a volume boost. Backcomb underneath sections of your hair, leaving the top smooth. For a less effort volume tip, simply massage a little hair mousse into damp roots and then tip your head upside down and roughly dry. Then either blow dry or curl the ends for an ultra-glam style.

The Quiff makes a comeback

The quiff is elegant with enough edge to keep it from looking too refined. As seen on the Chanel Spring/Summer catwalk it is predicted to be big news for Autumn/Winter too. Quiffs are particularly great if you’re having a bad hair day, or for those who are at that in-between stage of growing out fringes. To create the perfect quiff, section the piece of hair that you want to quiff away from the rest of
your hair.  Take a thin section at the very front and clip it away from the rest of the hair. The remaining hair needs to be backcombed towards the roots. Then spritz with my Leo Bancroft Secretly Styled firm hold hairspray. Follow by smoothing the backcombed hair down with the un-backcombed section lying on top. Once the right height is achieved, clip it in place with a bobby pin. Quiffs can be worn with big bouncy curls, blow dries or incorporated into a pony tail. Finish with an extra spritz of hairspray and some of Leo’s Gloriously Glossy Shine Spray.

Messy Bun

Once you’ve washed your hair, prep it with a volumising mousse or dry shampoo. Tip your head upside down then rough blow-dry your hair. Split your hair into 2 sections, one at the front and one at the back. Pull the back section back, and tie it in a ponytail.
Take the front section and backcomb it from mid-lengths to roots until the hair stands on end. Go over the very front of your hair lightly with a brush to smooth any bird’s nest effect. Undo your ponytail and tie it again or put it into a bun including the section you just backcombed. The effect should be a ponytail or bun with a lot of lift, taking an ordinary style and making it extra special. It’s Christmas after all so incorporating pearl or diamante pins, headbands and hair ties will make it extra glam.
