what successful women have for lunch

According to Joanne Dodds from Hairtrade.com“Small changes to your diet could make a big difference to your hair and beauty regime and give you the look you’ve been wanting.” Okay, we’re listening! YCB is all about small habits to help us look as flawless as we feel. “Having a salad filled with chicken, tomatoes and nuts can provide a lot of the essentials needed for healthy skin.

“Or a meal with salmon, sweet potatoes and kale can help your hair look as healthy as possible whilst also preventing potential hair loss.”

Here are the top foods that to add to your diet!

eat blueberries to get healthy skin and hair

1. Blueberries:

Jam-packed with vitamin C, blueberries reduce collagen to help aid both the health and appearance of your skin and hair. Not only are they a delicious berry to snack on, but they’re an excellent source of nutrients and antioxidants.

2. Nuts:

Snack on handfuls upon handfuls of these scrumptious bits of protein. They provide hair and skin friendly nutrients including zinc and selenium. Plus, their vitamin E provides protection from sun damage.

3. Tomatoes:

Tomatoes are also a rich source of selenium to protect your skin from sun damage and age spots, keeping your skin super healthy!

4. Oily fish:

Omega-3 is a nutrient that helps reduce inflammatory skin conditions. Salmon is a great food to help your skin, including scalp, look smoother and younger!

5. Eggs:

Another essential vitamin to your diet is biotin, a water-soluble B vitamin. Without biotin, you are more prone to brittle hair and even hair loss. Thankfully, egg yolks are a perfect source of biotin to include in your everyday meals.

6. Chicken:

Some love it, some think it’s boring but chicken is a great source of protein. Protein is a vital aspect of your diet and a lack of it can lead to brittle hair or dry skin. Both your skin and hair are made up of protein, so keep this food in mind next time you’re at the grocery store.

7. Kale:

With its high iron content, kale has been all the rage as a must-have super-food. Iron is essential for your blood, which affects your hair follicles. A lack of iron can affect hair growth or even shedding.

8. Sweet potatoes:

Sweet potatoes are packed with vitamin A, which is essential for the body’s production of sebum. Simply put, sebum is the oily substance produced by our hairs glands and is necessary for a healthy scalp.

9. Fortified cereals:

Fortified cereals are a great source of zinc as well as other minerals, and our body needs zinc, otherwise you might find yourself with hair loss or dry, itchy scalp. Fortified cereals will give you plenty of zinc – along with other minerals – to keep your hair full and healthy.

10. Water!

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water every day is a game changer. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Water keeps your skin moisturised and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Add these foods to your diet and you’re sure to gain healthier hair and skin. These options are perfect for stronger hair, skin and even nails! Now you can eat your way to feeling more vivacious with good foods to nourish your body and mind.
