The release of the long-awaited Barbie movie is less than two weeks away (July 21), and yesterday was the Los Angeles premiere (pictured above). All the excitement for Margot Robbie’s wonderfully kitsch film has caused a huge spike in sales of bright pink makeup products, with demand for pink blushers up 53% and lip glosses up 53.7%.
Ceryn Lawless from online beauty retailer Escentual.com said: “Shocking pink is clearly going to be the colour of the summer, and this is all down to the Barbiecore trend which started last year and is blowing up again in the run up to the release of the film. We have already seen a big increase in demand for gloss and blush in several pretty pink shades.”
