Top 10 Best-Selling Women’s Fragrances for Valentine’s 2024

Coco Mademoiselle is set to top the UK’s fragrance charts for Valentine’s. The amber floral Chanel scent has been the UK’s favourite for the past five years, except for 2021 when it was beaten to the top spot by YSL Black Opium. 

Coco Mademoiselle was first launched in 2001 and this year Ugandan-Canadian Gossip Girl actress Whitney Peak became the face of the scent, and a 50ml bottle of eau de parfum has a recommended retail price of £99. It is currently out-selling its nearest competitor by nearly two to one. 

In second place this year is Miss Dior Eau de Parfum and in third place is Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum according to beauty industry data compiled by online retailer Escentual.com. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette is fourth and in fifth place is classic fragrance Chanel No 5.

The nation’s favourite fragrance for Valentine’s 2024 is Coco Mademoiselle which was first launched in 2001. It is an oriental amber floral fragrance with top notes of orange, mandarin orange, orange blossom and bergamot. The middle notes are mimosa, jasmine, Turkish rose, and ylang-ylang, while the base notes are tonka bean, patchouli, opoponax, vanilla, vetiver, and white musk.

The fragrance was renamed in 2012; it was originally called Miss Dior Cherie when it launched in 2005. The scent is a chypre (the French word for Cyprus) and is characterised Italian mandarin and blood orange top notes, a Grasse rose and lily of the valley heart, and patchouli base. The face of the Miss Dior has been actress Natalie Portman since 2017.

Third favourite is Lancome’s scent La Vie est Belle, which has been fronted by Hollywood actress Julia Roberts since 2018. The fragrance was initially launched in 2012 after three years of formulation. Iris is the key note of the perfume surrounded by orange blossom and jasmine at the heart. There are top notes of blackcurrant and pear, and a base of tonka bean, praline, patchouli and vanilla.

Still in the top 10 best sellers and it’s now 102 years old. According to Chanel the formula used to produce No 5 has changed little since its creation. 
The fragrance is a floral aldehyde with top notes are bergamot, lemon, neroli and ylang-ylang. The heart is jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, and iris, while the base is vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla, amber and patchouli.
