Five Tips That Make Your Make-Up Last ALL Day Without Fail

With it now being summer, many people will be out all day; whether this be weddings, day drinking, hen parties and so on.

Though some makeup products claim to be long-lasting, the makeup might still fail to remain on your face if you’re not following the right techniques.

Top make-up artist, Wayne Goss, who has over 4m YouTube subscribers, shares some top tips with us on how to make your makeup last longer in a day.

1. Use the same texture of skincare and makeup products

If you use oil-based moisturiser and water-based foundation, your make-up isn’t going to last because the oil and water don’t mix.”

So, make sure that everything is the same. If you are using silicone foundation, use silicone moisturiser, and if you’re using water-based skincare, then apply water-based makeup products.”

2. Apply powder to your skin

“Make sure you powder your skin, because that will prolong the longevity of the skin.

“Powder formulas are excellent for oily skin types as they help to control shine throughout the day. They are also great for setting cream products in place, ensuring long-lasting wear without creasing.”

3. Avoid too much skincare

Don’t use too much skincare, as the more you layer, the more chance there is of make-up slippage, and make-up will easily move around the face which is exactly what you don’t want.”

4. Oxidisation is key

If you’ve got normal to dry skin, then setting spray can help. But the setting sprays don’t work for oily skin, because oily skin produces oil, and that breaks down everything including the spray.”

5. Choose long-wear products

Long-wear products are generally designed for normal to oily skin and tend to have properties in them that hold up your makeup in place. Generally speaking, make sure that your moisturiser and skincare are compatible with your foundation.”
