The world is going crazy for a certain busty blonde… and its none other than Sports Illustrated cover girl, Kate Upton. The bubbly American is famous for making men drool (and us girls green with envy) thanks to her curvalicious figure and her love of posing in teeny-tiny swimming costumes.
However, not everyone is a fan of Kate – she made headlines earlier this year after Victoria’s Secret announced they “would never use” her in their annual parade, despite the voluptuous star appearing in numerous print ads. The VS casting director made some pretty sensational comments in regards to Kate’s looks, describing her as “a Page 3 girl… a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.” Really?
But Kate’s bounced straight back from the VS snub, landing not one, but two prestigious Vogue shoots in the past six months. And not only does she look just as gorgeous in haute couture as she does in a bikini, the 20-year-old star has also put in her two cents worth on the weight debate.
“I don’t want to starve myself. I still want to hang out with my family and be a normal girl,” she says. “I think it’s important to look at magazines and think a healthy lifestyle is attainable. Now that the fashion industry likes the idea of me, I’m happy if I can have an influence.”
Appearing in a seven-page spread in the November issue of Vogue, Kate is absolutely sizzling in a modest black one-piece, as well as classic sportswear from Jason Wu, Narciso Rodriguez and Calvin Klein.
And it’s not just Vogue that’s sitting up and taking notice of Kate – she’s also on the cover of Carine Roitfeld’s new magazine, CR Fashion Book, and a favourite of photographer Terry Richardson, appearing in a Baywatch-inspired GQ shoot.
What are your thoughts on Kate? We can’t get enough – thank goodness for Vogue!
