Kate has been one of our favourite faces since the tender age of 16, rising to super stardom for her striking looks, after being spotted at JFK airport, New York, after a holiday in the Bahamas.
She was only 14 years old when spotted by Sarah Doukas, the founder of prestigious Storm Model Management, but her career really took off from age 16 after a shoot for The Face magazine. With her svelte figure, Moss was noted as different from the curvier, traditional models of the 1990s, including the likes of Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford. However, Kate seemed to be the catalyst of a new era for the modelling world, and figures like Kate’s are the most like those we see on catwalks and in fashion editorials today.
Throughout her life, Kate has won the title of, and been included in the list of ‘Sexiest Woman/Women’ in a huge range of magazines, including Maxim, FHM, Arena and NME. She graced the cover of the November 1999 Millennium issue of the US Vogue as a ‘Modern Muse’, and last year, made MODELS.com’s ‘The Supers’ list. In 2006, she won the British Fashion Council’s ‘Model of the Year’ award and in 2007, Forbes listed her second on the list of the ‘World’s 15 top-earning models’. As one of our favourite fashion mavens, Kate Moss has made a huge impression on the style stakes, earning a place on Vanity Fair’s ‘Best-Dressed’ list, a ‘fashion-influence’ award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and many more.
Ms Kate has been the face of many high-profile fashion campaigns worldwide, including Calvin Klein, Gucci, Burberry and Chanel. She has been on the cover of many magazines, and this Londonite has appeared on the British Vogue cover 30 times. The supe has put her own hand to the fashion and beauty world, having released several perfumes and designing a clothing and accessories range for Topshop, and a handbag range for Longchamp. Moss has often been a muse for many different artists and musicians, and has starred in many music videos.
