From parties to premieres, Kimberlee Oo brings us the weekly red carpet wrap-up.
Irish presenter Laura Whitmore was absolutely stunning at this week’s 2013 National Television Awards in London. Dressed in a slinky yellow gown from Australian designer Rachel Gilbert, the sunshine shade really worked with her retro blonde curls and bombshell red lips. Metallic accessories added to her overall golden effect.
Yellow is one of the top colour trends of this year with J.Crew and Oscar de la Renta leading the pack. A bright and happy shade, it’s notoriously hard to pull off. Blondes and fair-skinned girls should choose paler colours with golden undertones, while the neon bright hues can be left to those of us rocking a killer tan.
But what do you wear it with? It goes without saying that yellow goes hand-in-hand with metallic but if you’re looking to add in some other tints into the equation, then consider these rules. When wearing with black, avoid the dreaded bumblebee look and tone it down with bronze hues. Grey works best with bolder, sunshine shades. And if you’re looking to really stand out, mix and match with all the colours of the rainbow – try picking up the tones in digital prints or florals.
