The wait is over as the EE British Academy Film Awards winners are announced at a star-studded ceremony at London’s Royal Opera House on Sunday, February 10th
Stephen Fry will be the host at this year’s awards and world-renowned actors, actresses and film-makers will be gracing the red carpet.
Life of Pi and Les Miserables are both nominated 9 times, but it is Steven Spielberg’s historical drama Lincoln which leads the field with 10 nominations, including Best Picture. Other categories include Outstanding British Film, Best Animated Film and Best Supporting Actress.
Anne Hathaway received a nomination, thanks to her incredible performance as Fantine in the breathtaking Les Miserables. In addition to being nominated for Leading Actor, Ben Affleck has also made the shortlist for Best Director for Argo. Ang Lee, who directed Life Of Pi, and Quentin Tarantino, the man behind the acclaimed movie Django Unchained, also received nominations for that category.
The highest accolade is the British Academy Fellowship, which will be awarded to Sir Alan Parker this year. Sir Alan’s film highlights include Evita and Bugsy Malone. This award has previously been awarded to the likes of Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorcese.
