Carey Mulligan covers the may issue of US Vogue

Baz Luhmann’s remake of The Great Gatsby is being released next month and it seems as though Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington may have nostalgia for the roaring twenties just like the rest of us. Carey Mulligan graces the cover of the May issue of US Vogue, looking absolutely stunning in a gown by Oscar de la Renta. The look is inspired by Mulligan’s role as Daisy Buchanan in the anticipated movie, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio (as if we needed another reason to rush to the theaters). Photographed by Mario Testino, Mulligan looks elegant in several exquisitely crafted gowns; each dress evokes a longing for the decadence of the 1920s.

On the Vogue cover, Carey wears a lime green Oscar de la Renta gown with elegant draping on the neckline, along with some pretty impressive diamonds. In the publication, we see some more playful looks. One look that stands out is the silk gown covered in rose petals. The light color and floral decorations add a feminine touch to Carey’s dramatic eye makeup.

In another shot, Mulligan is shown cheerfully smiling while wearing a beaded blue Oscar de la Renta dress with a long and simple silhouette. Although the makeup is a bit intense, Carey Mulligan adds freshness to the flapper style, making each ensemble look modern.
