5 fashion tips from Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes has been killing it on the fashion front lately. Always known for her eclectic style, this summer has been no exception. We’ve seen her dressed to the nines and at her most casual (she is one of the few actresses that will roam the streets of New York sans makeup and with wet hair) but she is always quintessentially Katie. Here are some tips we can take from the one-time fashion designer.
1. Take Risks
Katie has never been known to shy away from taking a fashion risk. For example, she recently wore leather culottes for her interview for Good Morning America on July 22. Sounds terrible on paper, right? But she made it work.
She is also always up for experimenting with her hair. After wearing it long for years during those Creek days she went radically short then long again and now she has cut it off again (she also likes to wear wigs occasionally).
2. Do Relax
A number of Hollywood starlets would benefit from taking some cues from Katie who is often seen running around town in jeans and workout gear with her hair freshly washed (and not blown dry! OMG!) or thrown up in a messy top knot. She also usually sports very minimal makeup.
3. Do What Works for You
You have to admit Katie looks ageless. How does she do it? The Bobbi Brown spokesperson told Elle, “I work out a lot, and I drink a lot of water. I try to eat well and maintain a healthy lifestyle, with the exception of a few French fries! I try to work out five times a week. I’m not so obsessed, but I’m constantly walking around the city. I do spinning and running and yoga. I switch it up.”
4. Do Wear Classics
Though Katie is often taking risks with new designers, she does know that classics look great on her. She looked like a model straight out of a Ralph Laure look book when she wore on of the iconic designers stunning satin dresses to the CFDAs.
5. Do Embrace Your 90s Roots
Katie has had a bit of 90s renaissance this summer. After all, this is when she was discovered. This summer she wore cute white sneaks with a dress and she has also been known to channel Cher Horowitz.
