Hitchcock first noticed the blonde Hollywood beauty in a commercial and soon wanted her to audition for his classic horror movie “The Birds.” Hedren got the part and Hitchcock soon becomes obsessed with her and dives into his frenzied and erratic behavior during filming.
Hedren was traumatised by some of his actions. In an interview with Glamour Magazine Sienna Miller said “Hitchcock inflicted great psychological damage on Hedren during the making of “The Birds. For instance, before the famous final sequence in the attic, where Hedren is attacked by a flock of gulls, he never told her they were going to be live birds. She was traumatized.” Hedren, once stated that Hitchock ruined her career when she refused his sexual advances. She was 31 at the time of filming, and he was 62.
