Natalie Portman recently turned heads with her new blonde hair. The actress attended a dinner for her husband Bejamin Millepied’s Dance Project (Sep 22.) While she arrived in a white Dior gown, it was the light hair, which took the spotlight.
We have seen her nearly bald, in bangs and as a natural brunette. With help from her hairstylist Tracey Cunningham, the beautiful actress decided to go blonde!
Portman is not the only Hollywood star to go blonde these days. We recently published an article about Miley Cyrus’ new look. The 19 year-old recently shocked Hollywood by chopping off her locks and coloring it in a bright blonde, bleached look. While both stars’ looks are drastic changes, they are also very different. Natalie’s hair still retains some soft browns and her locks almost comes off as golden, honey-hued, rather than blonde. Yet, Both Miley and Natalie have been able to keep their personality ever-present with these transformations. Miley is still the same rocker-girl she was before she cut her hair, and Natalie’s hair still reflects the classy, feminine woman she is off-camera. While Natalie’s new blonde look is definitely more playful and youthful than the brunette we are used to seeing, it makes her no less sophisticated.
The transformation however, and unlike Miley, wasn’t for personal preference reasons. Portman has an upcoming role in Terrence Malick’s new film, which she needed to go blonde for. Natalie wouldn’t reveal which role specifically, or much else about the film.
Portman told the Hollywood Reporter about her blonde tresses, “My mom says I’m like a different person.” LA A-list hairstylist Tracey Cunningham was behind the transformation. “I did it just a couple of days ago.” Cunningham used Redken’s Blonde Dimensions to create the look.
Aside from showing off her new, fab hair, Portman is enjoying being a mother to one-year-old Aleph and the current face of Miss Dior Cherie perfume.
Portman and Millepied secretly married in February 2012. Portman, who is strictly vegan, broke this dietary restriction during her pregnancy. “I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff,” she said during an April radio interview. “I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff.”
One of Portman’s upcoming films is Knight of Cups, her first film since Thor in 2011. The film also stars Oscar-award winner, Christian Bale. This however, is not the role she went blonde for. Malick and Portman are working together on another project, an untitled film to be released next year. Aside from Knight of Cup, Portman is also working on the Thor sequel, titled Thor: The Dark World. It will be released Nov. 8, 2013.
It is great to see Portman back in the spotlight. The Black Swan actress has been on hiatus since the birth of Aleph. She is returning with a bang however: a new hair do, husband and three new films to be released within the next year. We can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeve.
