September 25, 2012

The 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards brought the best of Hollywood to the red carpet!

Sunday (Sep 23,) Hollywood’s brightest stars including host Jimmy Kimmel filled the Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles to receive awards for best in television 2012.

In attendance included stars of  shows like Jimmy Fallon of Late Night, Tiny Fey of 30 Rock, Amy Poehler of Parks and Recreation,  Ginnifer Goodwin of Big Love, January Jones of Mad Men and Lena Headey of Game of Thrones. Other stars included Nicole Kidman, legend Betty White, Kevin Costner, Ashley Judd, Ellen DeGeneres. Tom Hanks, and Hayden Panettiere, just to name a few.

Nominated shows included Mad Men, Breaking Bad, 30 Rock, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Modern Family, and The Big Bang Theory. However, new additions to the ballot included shows Veep, Girls, and actress Zooey Deschanel of New Girl.

Despite the variation and the large number of shows nominated, two swept the house.

Knocking Mad Med off of it’s 4 year consecutive winning streak for Best Drama was Showtime’s psychological thriller Homeland . The show’s stars Claire Danes (Carrie Mathison) and Damian Lewis (Nicholas Brod) scored the Best Drama Actress and Actor awards.

For comedy, it was no surprise that ABC’s Modern Family took home the Best Comedy Series award once again, with stars Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy) and Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker) stealing the Best Supporting Comedy Actor and Actress titles.
