Victoria Beckham has yet again proved to the fashion-world that her desire to be a designer is not merely a fleeting whim…
The celebrity turned fashion guru has shown us her recognizable and desirable designs, which flaunt her creative, skilled style. If at the beginning of her fashion-career her rigour felt like a restraint, it is now an inevitable trademark of NYFW.
The proposal for Autumn/Winter 2013 is cohesively seductive, though still impeccably refined. Fabulous coats opened the show, ushering in an all British Savile Row inspiration (the Beckhams’ move back to the UK might have something to do with this!). Tops and bottoms are slashed by neat, intriguing slits, that, together with the interesting use of textures like pony-hair and leather, add a fresh zest to the mix. The silhouette is balanced through slightly rounded-shoulders and waists cinched in by belts – VB definitely knows how to dress women.
A special mention to the closing looks – smoking hot black blazers turned capes – that prove how perfectly styled masculinity can be the highest form of sexiness.
Superb accessories completed the collection, with peculiarly shaped Manolo Blahnik shoes and those one of a kind bags that are quickly becoming the proof of the undeniably deserved success of this unexpected brand. Hats off to you, Mrs Beckham.
