Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant has joined forces with Banana Republic to launch the third Mad Men inspired collection just in time for the anticipated return of the TV-serie drama.
Channeling the 60’s Mod vibe in a more contemporary manner, we can see a hint of all the main female characters in this capsule collection. The loud geometric prints has Megan Draper written all over it while the contrasting chic elegance is more of Betty draper’s staple style. Joanne’s appreciation for her feminine attributes are also depicted as peggy’s adorably shy and simplistic nature shines through.
Key details include shift dresses, A- line silhouettes, and the boyish lack of curves that are so coherent with the 60’s. Are fashion oxymorons flying about the place? Yes, but on good accord.
The perfect face for this campaign, Coco Rocha, in all of her quirky glory said in an interview that, ‘The idea of a show like Mad Men gets people, I love it, we look at that show and we all dream of being in such a world. The fashion is so beautiful and we just think wow if only I could be a part of that.”
In addition, the collection is bang on trend as we saw from the Louis Vuitton, Christopher Kane and Erdem’s A/W 13 collections; the 60’s are officially huge this season.
Befitting for a fun loving woman on the go, you can now get the highly sought after pieces online and in Banana Republic stores!
