Gracing the cover of Vogue UK April Issue, Edie Campbell has just appeared on the AW13 catwalk in some of the fashion world’s biggest shows, including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent. We bet we will be seeing much more of this beauty!
This is the British model’s first Vogue cover, yet her statement geometric hair and 60s inspired make up creates the perfect introduction. Photographed by David Sims, the monochromatic shot is reminiscent of the swinging sixties and Edie appears to be the perfect balance of fellow Vogue muses, Twiggy with her youth androgyny and Bridgette Bardot’s subtle sexiness.
Wide-Eyed and brutally honest Edie, who has worked with designers including Burberry, tells Vogue readers “For my sanity, I want to retain a sense of reality,” making her refreshingly down-to-earth and much more relatable than other women in her field. Similarly, her opinion on the much coveted role as a model for ‘Victoria Secret’s’ is unusual. Although for models and women across the globe alike, modelling for the high end lingerie brand is an unattainable yet highly desirable role, Edie says ‘I just think that the Victoria’s Secret girl values herself by the way she looks.’ That being said, her beauty is evident and her apparent lack of awareness of the fact is what makes her even more appealing.
At the tender age of 22, and with such an amazing modelling resume under her belt, what’s next for this stunning model? A sure thing is that you will definitely be seeing more of her. Although she has doubts about modelling, saying “I never thought I’d enjoy this,” her natural beauty is undeniable and paired with her energizing spirit and humble opinions on herself and the fashion industry give her a unique quirkiness that designers can’t seem to get enough off.
