Attic Exchange: Stay On Trend With Luxe For Less
Achieving ‘vintage-inspired’ effortlessness is a much sought-after look by fashionistas around the world. But the thought of rummaging through charity shops, to only be faced with eighties rejects, or awaking dreadfully early and facing the chilly morning air to nab the best items from a car-boot sale can be discouraging for many who aspire towards this timeless style, a look made popular by the likes of Alexa Chung.
Often, the ‘vintage look’ doesn’t mean that you have to hunt through your grandma’s wardrobe, or pay excessive amounts for archived designer pieces. This look is created by elegantly mixing and matching designer and high-street fashion, from both current and past seasons.
Attic Exchange is a fabulous clothing-exchange website, selling second-hand designer clothing, accessories, shoes and bags, so that you can discover something gorgeous and unique, with ease. As the old saying goes; ‘one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure!’ Attic Exchange proves that a dress or a pair of shoes that you have never worn can become a much-loved investment-piece for someone else’s wardrobe.
At just over a year old, this fantastic wardrobe-heaven has become increasingly popular and has seen enormous press-attention, particularly since Kate Middleton was seen wearing the Temperley ‘Moriah’ dress that Attic Exchange had in stock. The dress, which retails at £795, was featured on the site in perfect condition having only been worn once and sold for £295. Needless to say, following the Duchess of Cambridge outing to Wimbledon in the dress last summer, it sold out in a week!
Founders, Zoe Poulson and Suzanne Corker, ran an event called “Switch & Ditch” which gave women the opportunity to bring along 10 pieces from their wardrobes that they didn’t want, and switch them for 10 different pieces from another woman’s wardrobe. The event was a great success, highlighting a gap in the market for women wanting second-hand fashion, and designer-items for a fraction of the price.
With a strong focus on the designer market, the two fashion-loving ladies decided to join creative forces and created a site that showcased the best in pre-loved but perfectly kept bags, shoes and clothes. All of the items listed on the site are second-hand but are in excellent condition, carefully selected to ensure that you are offered quality, authenticity and above all – luxury brands without the luxury price tags! Attic Exchange combines designer splendour with purse-friendly prices, by creating a place where second-hand yet very on-trend items are accessible for any woman wishing to enhance their existing wardrobe.
Taking inspiration from their favourite fashion-stylists and bloggers, and utilising social media have enabled the talented duo to keep on-trend and bring forward fabulous fashion at a fraction of the price. “We have some fabulous shoes, and this season Giuseppe Zanotti is very on trend; we have some great shoes by this designer with up to 65% off the RRP.”
With a very successful Spring/Summer ’13 collection of second-hand designer pieces, Attic Exchange are already looking forward to Autumn/Winter ’13. Expect to see cinched-in waistlines, shrugs, wraps and upper torso fur, leather and wool wrappings from the end of August!
