A Trip To Jewellery Heaven: We’re Loving Zelia Horsley‘s Statement Pieces
Bold stripes and eclectic florals dominated the SS13 catwalks and the statements did not stop with the clothes; accessories have also matured this spring. Here at YCB, we are loving the trend and can’t wait to toughen up our favourite springtime looks with Zelia Horsley’s edgy statement pieces!
We can’t help of falling head over heals for this design guru. Having studied at Middlesex University, Zelia has worked in the studios of Kirt Holmes & Simon Harrison, where she created extravagant pieces for Vivienne Westwood and Agent Provocateur. From then on she has been creating waves amongst fashion circles for her raw, industrial and arresting jewellery line.
Step out of your comfort zone with bold necklaces, created from intricate layers of chain or collars made from tough fabrics. Chunky cuffs in pinks and corals are hardened with little hinges adding a fantastically twisted detail and earrings are long, dangling chains with little delicate rings hanging from the bottom, a refreshing change from chandelier earrings and monotonous bangles. Far from looking like punk rehashed, Zelia brings a touch of luxury, opulence and femininity to chunky metallic pieces without resorting to the jewelled clichés of costume jewellery. This is fully fledged, grown up and unabashed and will add a touch of look-at-me glamour to any ensemble.
The Avalon necklace is a wonderful example of how the right necklace or statement piece can help adding the final touch to every outfit. These delicate chains would be beautiful offset against a simple white tee and skinny jeans for a touch of rock & roll chic a la Miranda Kerr.
The Pink Isis necklace is a beautiful example of Zelia’s clever draping, both strong and refined. Pair the necklace with a white shirt or plain black sweater and cropped trousers or even a pencil skirt to add a little attitude to your work ensemble.
We love the architectural elegance and the slight hint of pink of the Pink Neptune necklace.
