L.K.Bennett unveils Rosamund bag collection
In an age where celebrity collaborations come two a penny, it’s refreshing to see one that’s a considered match and true to the brand. Here at Your Coffee Break we’ve loved the appearance of Rosamund Pike in the L.K Bennett campaigns. The contemporary actress has ease to her natural, elegant style and both her charm and wit personify British spirit rendering her the perfect match for L.K.Bennett. So we were delighted when we found out that she has collaborated with the brand on a collection of gorgeous bags. The collection, which launched July 17th features Rosamund for their Autumn/Winter 2013 mainline and Black Ribbon collections.
The theme of the campaign is “Miniature London” perfectly marrying the brands heritage with a touch of British wit and whimsy. Shot by renowned photographer Mariano Vivanco, the concept features shots of Rosamund surrounded by London’s cultural icons such as Big Ben, to reflect the elements of British design presented in the bags.
Far from simply lending her name and face for the campaign, Rosamund worked alongside the L.K. Bennett design team over six months to develop the capsule collection, using her love of British films and the spirit of Julie Christie in “Darling” as inspiration. Adorably named the Rosie, Rosamund and Rosa in honour of the actress, the bags all come in one statement design in six vibrant colours; white, navy, green, black, tangerine orange and a delicious shade of bitter chocolate brown.
The collection is produced in Italy and is made using a combination of smooth and grained, butter soft calfskin leather to give a texture and richness to the range with bespoke hardware in brushed matt gold adding to the luxurious aesthetic. Every inch of the bag is considered, from the suede like lining ensuring the inside is as beautiful as the outside to the safety pin design detail on the zip, inspired by Rosamunds treasured safety pin earring.
Speaking about the collection Rosamund commented “I think having a handbag is about feeling that you are holding a little bit of luxury and hopefully that is what this bag will offer. To start the process, I sat in the L.K Bennett studios and sketched what I wanted; a bag to embody modernity, freedom and independence. I cared a lot about the inside of the bag, as I wanted it to look delicious on the outside as well as on the inside. There is an inside out detail, which is a lovely punctuation mark on the smoothness of the Nappa leather, bringing some of the chaos of the inside onto the outside.”
Add a touch of understated luxury to your handbag collection today with one of these beauties (£350- £495), now available in L.K Bennett stores and www.lkbennett.com
