Nicholas Kirkwood to create visuals for LFW S/S 2014
This season will see fashion front runner and shoe designer, Nicholas Kirkwood, collaborate with London Fashion Week.
The British Fashion Council and Vogue Designer Fashion Fund winner will have his spectacular designs used as marketing materials across this London Fashion Week.
In celebration of his unique geometric prints and architectural design work, the Kirkwood brand will create a strong visual identity within the fashion week, and will illuminate the British Fashion Council’s London Fashion Week for its innovation and creativity.
Nicholas Kirkwood said: “It’s a great privilege to be able to team up with the BFC on this exciting project and apply my interpretation to the London Fashion Week campaign. I’ve taken elements of my work and designed a pattern that I feel reflects the bold nature and energy of London Fashion Week.”
This is the third time the British Fashion Council has teamed up with a designer to form a phenomenal marketing campaign and event branding for LFW.
Kirkwood will be following in the footsteps of Jonathan Saunders who took on the creative identity of LFW S/S 2013 and, woman’s best friend, Manolo Blahnik who designed for LFW earlier this year for A/W 2013.
Kirkwood, whose main design can be seen in the central courtyard at Somerset House, will adapt his signature Chevron print and architecturally inspired pieces in aid of the campaign for S/S 2014, using interactive and reflective aspects.
Joining his award winning work with the context and location will create a bespoke experience for anyone going to London Fashion week this September.
Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC commented “It’s wonderful to be able to collaborate with designers on the London Fashion Week creative – it brings a personal element and a new, exciting dimension to each season. Nicholas’s creative vision: a bold palette, sharp graphic lines and his signature chevron pattern, have real impact.”
Kirkwood whose celebrity fans include Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian, won high praised for his work for November’s Victoria’s Secret show, where the models wore designs custom made for the VS models and not for sale. Each pair added lust-worthy edginess to the show-stopping spectacle that is the Victoria’s Secret show.
Here at Your Coffee Break we’re more than a little biased in London’s favour; we believe our city to be the Fashion Capital of the world. Having Nicholas Kirkwood visuals adorning London Fashion Week is sure to cajole any doubters round to our way of thinking.
