This year’s most quirky designer collaboration yet
Topshop is at it again with another huge designer collaboration. The adventurous label, Meadham Kirchoff, is set to drop their fourth and largest collection with Topshop today, Thursday, November 21. We are so excited! The 89-piece collection will feature items across the board including accessories, shoes, clothing, and outerwear, at a range of price points, from affordable items to a few splurge-worthy pieces, like their Mongolian shearling jacket.
The duo explains, “”This collection for Topshop was inspired by the idea of a band or a gang which we named ‘The Cherrys’. The overall aesthetic was influenced by Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, Kembra Pfahler and glam rock. It is an enormous and all-encompassing collection which will offer a myriad of choice for any customer to adapt or reject as they see fit.”
Kate Phelan, Topshop’s Creative Director, goes on to say, “This collection of the Cherrys will inspire and delight. The pieces are special and exciting; they capture their bitter-sweet world of fashion.”
The quirky line embraces over-the-top femininity with bold brights and baby-sweet pastels, and of course, a ton of glitter. The brand’s attention to detail has been omnipresent throughout their previous collections and spectacular LFW shows over the past ten years, so it should come as no surprise that their collaboration with Topshop will incorporate the same care in the form of frill trims, ruffles and specialty embellishments. The line comes together with a feeling of fashion fantasy, the psychedelic prints, chunky shoes and use of texture are unconventionally chic; and while sporting many of the pieces requires confidence and imagination, there is definitely something for everyone in this collection.
With Isabel Marant’s H&M November launch and now the announced collaboration between Topshop and Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff, we do dread the credit card bill at the end of the month.
